Main Musicians

Julio Sivautt – Lead Vocals / Guitar / Composer / Entertainer

From Buenos Aires/Argentina. At the age of twelve he begun his career by selling empanadas on his bike in the South of Greater Buenos Aires. He also worked as a professional football player in Bolivia, started his first band in Brazil and was a kitchen porter and a Ceviche cook in England. Now he’s based in Berlin, Germany, where he founded Chochán Volador in 2016.

Lena Donat – Flute / Vocals

Lena Donat is a singer and flute player who joined Chochán Volador in 2016. Originally from Hamburg, she also lived in Ecuador, Mexico, South Africa, Scotland and Belgium. She is active in environmental politics and has now settled in Berlin.

Dante Parraguez – Percussion / Producer

Dante is a drummer, percussionist, music producer and arranger from Santiago de Chile. He joined the band in 2020. He has also lived in Hamburg and Barcelona, where he played with various well-known bands. He owns the Kilohertz Studio in Berlin.

Serafin de Janeiro – Trumpet / Composer and Arranger

Abraham Iturra “Serafin de Janeiro” is a trumpet player, composer and arranger from Santiago de Chile. He studied music in Chile, Argentina and Brazil, specializing in Latin Jazz and Bossa nova. In 2019, he moved to Berlin and joined Chochán Volador.

Matías Sempronii – Drums

Matías Sempronii comes from Santiago del Estero, Argentina, and has lived in many Argentinian cities. He studied music and communication and played in different projects as a session drummer. Now he has settled in Berlin where he joined the band in 2019.

Pablo Woiz – Keyboards

He was born in Buenos Aires where he studied music,specialising on Tango and Latin American rhythms. Settled in Berlin since 2006, he played across Europe, Asia and America. He’s also arranger and composer in his own project Pablo Woiz & Milonga Roots www.pablowoiz.com

Nulu – Saxophone

Manuel Barahona Olate was born in Rancagua and raised in Santiago de Chile where he studied with Edén Carrasco and has been part of many music projects. Now he has settled in Berlin and plays with Kokokollektiv and The Garlic We Crush.

Sascha Giarrocco – Guitar and backing vocals

Sascha Giarrocco was born in Austria and soon moved to Quilmes, in the South of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started his musical career at an early age in rock bands. He studied music at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda, specializing in Latin American rhythms. For many years, he sang in a Murga group, Uruguayan style. He currently lives in Berlin where he is pursuing several music projects.

Baron Arnold – Trombone

Baron Arnold fuses contemporary European elements with American Jazz and Soul. He begun to perform professionally in his early teens, studied with world renowned jazz musicians Robin Eubanks, Gary Bartz, and Billy Hart, and attended the Jazz Institut Berlin, the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. Baron lives in Berlin and performs throughout Germany and Europe.

Sven Holscher – Bass

Sven Holscher is from Punta Arenas, Chile. He studied classical double bass and jazz bass, later specialising on Tango. He performed in different musical settings that go from symphony orchestras to contemporary jazz ensembles. His current music projects are Eyarã and Homo Luden, The Berlin Baires Trio with the Grammy Award winner Quique Sinesi, the Tango trio Milonga Roots with Pablo Woiz, the Latin Jazz Quintett Yacarandá and the South American Duo Angirû Project.

Tomás Díaz – Bandoneon

Bandoneon player Tomas Diaz began his musical studies at the “Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda”, in Buenos Aires. He studied arrangements and composition with Masters such as Juan Carlos Cirigliano, Néstor Marconi and Rodolfo Mederos. He has performed Latin-American music on various stages and festivals around Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Japan, Vietnam, Germany, Spain, France, England and Switzerland. He currently lives in Berlin.
